Dr. John H. Jung
Double board-certified psychiatrist & addictionologist delivering precision mental health care to those leading demanding lives
A Journey of Understanding
From Maryland to UCLA to Mount Sinai Beth Israel—my journey has been shaped by diverse experiences and a deep commitment to understanding the human mind.

My journey began in Maryland, where I developed a strong foundation in the sciences and a deep curiosity about human behavior. Seeking broader horizons, I moved across the country to UCLA, where the vibrant diversity of Los Angeles opened my eyes to different perspectives and ways of living. Those transformative years, balanced between rigorous academic study and California's dynamic culture, shaped my understanding that mental health is deeply personal and uniquely individual.
After completing my Master's in Physiology at the University of Cincinnati and medical school at The Ohio State University, I found my calling in psychiatry—a field that uniquely combines scientific precision with the nuanced understanding of human experience.
The culmination of my training was my Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City. Working alongside experienced faculty in addiction psychiatry, I developed expertise in treating complex dual-diagnosis cases and gained deep insight into the intricate relationship between mental health and substance use.
Today, in addition to continued clinical excellence and patient care, I'm passionate about integrating technology with traditional psychiatric practice. I'm currently developing Clarity AI, a predictive analytics platform designed to enhance how we approach mental health treatment by analyzing clinical patterns to predict and prevent mental health crises—insights that directly inform and improve the care I provide to patients.

Meet Kodak
My seven-year-old rescue companion who reminds me daily of the importance of presence, loyalty, and unconditional acceptance—qualities I bring to every patient interaction.
Just as Kodak has taught me about patience and trust-building, I approach each therapeutic relationship with the understanding that healing happens at its own pace, in an atmosphere of safety and genuine care.
My Approach
Every person who enters my practice receives individualized attention and a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. I believe in comprehensive assessment—understanding not just symptoms, but the whole person.
I work collaboratively with my patients as partners in their treatment. Evidence-based practice guides my approach, using treatments proven by research while remaining open to innovation. Being accessible when you need support, not just during scheduled appointments, is a core principle of my practice.
My approach combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion. I stay current with the latest advances in psychiatric medicine while maintaining the human connection that's essential to healing. Whether you're dealing with attention and focus challenges, mood disorders, anxiety, substance use concerns, or simply seeking to optimize your mental well-being, my practice offers a safe, confidential space where your concerns are heard.
I understand that seeking psychiatric care can feel daunting. That's why I offer an initial evaluation where we can discuss your needs and determine if we're the right fit for working together. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take the next step in your mental health journey.

Quality psychiatric care should be both scientifically rigorous and deeply human. That's the standard I hold myself to every day.
Personal Note
Outside my practice, I find balance through intentional pursuits. Film photography teaches me to slow down and appreciate each moment—mirroring the careful attention I bring to patient care. Physical fitness reinforces the mind-body connection I emphasize in treatment. Through it all, Kodak serves as my daily reminder that genuine connection and presence are the foundations of healing.
